How to Volunteer
Volunteers are needed Saturday mornings at the Recycling Center to unload vehicles and help sort materials. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old unless accompanied by an adult. Individuals are welcome anytime. Groups are encouraged to schedule a Saturday with Margaret Sidebottom. Individual and group volunteers typically arrive at 8:00 am and stay until noon when the Center closes. Volunteers should wear clothing that they don't mind getting a little dirty. In the winter it can get cold inside because the main garage doors are opened and closed often. Gloves can be worn but are not required. Most volunteers assist with unloading cars. As cars arrive, recyclables are taken from truck beds, trunks, or back seats and walked to the various sorting stations. Water, coffee, hot chocolate and homemade sweets are provided.
